But supermarkets are riding to the rescue by offering their own dine-in meal deals, where you can enjoy premium food at great prices, and options that suit every taste.

All you need to do is lay the table and light a candle, and you can have a restaurant-style experience from the comfort of your own home.

So how much do these meal deals cost and what do they include?

Asda

You can get a starter, main, two sides, dessert and drink for just £12 between 5-15 February.

Tesco

If you have a Tesco Clubcard, you can get a starter, main, two sides, dessert and a drink for £20.

Or pay £15 at Tesco Express for a meal deal without the starter.

The offer runs from 9-14 February.

Morrisons

Couples can enjoy a starter, main, side, dessert and drink for £15 between 5-14 February.

Co-op

Members can get a main, two sides and a drink for just £10 between 4-17 February.

The price is £12 if you’re not a member.

Sainsbury’s

If you have a Nectar card, a starter, main, side, dessert and drink will cost £18 from 9-14 February.

Waitrose

A starter, main, side, dessert and drink will cost £25 from 10-15 February.

So whether you’re veggie or a carnivore, a wine buff or tea-total, you can be sure there’s something to make the occasion feel special, even if you’re on a budget.
