The Easter holidays are just around the corner, but you don’t have to spend a fortune on days to give your family a great Easter break.

So, if you’re looking for affordable family activities for the Easter holidays, look no further.

We’ve found activities for you and your kids that are free or under £10 each across the UK.

London

Hoppy Easter, Elephant and Castle

When? On Saturday, March 30th you can find lots of Easter activities in Castle Square, with face painting, arts and crafts and live performances.

Easter Treasure Hunt at Lauderdale House, London

When? On Sunday 31st March you can take your family on an Easter Treasure hunt, complete with chocolate prizes.

How much? Free

  Ceilidh Jam at Southbank Centre

When? On Sunday 7th April you and the family can move, groove and party with maypole dancing, ceilidh favourites and street dance moves, all tied together with live beatboxing and a fiddle band.

Surrey Docks Farm

When? Surrey Docks Farm is open daily from 10am till 4pm. It’s a working farm and charity that helps the community learn about farming, food production and the natural environment!

Hackney City Farm

When? Open daily from 10am, this farm gives children the chance to get close to animals and veggies.

The spaces in between digital exhibition

When? Open daily throughout 2024, this exhibition takes you from the bottom of the ocean, ascending through the natural world  into the heights of space. As the largest digital canvas on the planet, your little ones are sure to be mesmerised and inspired!

The Midlands & South England

Egg-cellent days at Delapre Abbey, Northhampton

When? The abbey is running it’s annual Easter activities from March 29-April 1

How much? £2.50 for a children’s ticket

Easter Extravaganza at Pavilion Gardens, Buxton

When? From the 29 March- April 1, the Easter Extravaganza offers a great weekend of fun for the whole family, including rides, over 50 stalls and hot and cold foods.

How much? Free entry, but some charges apply to activities.

Selly Manor, Wind in the Willows Easter Activities, Birmingham

When? From March 25- April 5, your family can join the iconic characters of Wind in the Willows in Easter activities around the manor.

 How much? Adults £5, Concessions £4, Children £3, Family (2 Adults, 3 Children) £15, Under 3s free.

Forge Mill Farm: New Life at the Farm, West Bromwich

 When? Until April 7, families can meet the farm’s newborn animals and join in an Easter Egg Hunt.

How much? Adults £4.50, Concessions £4, Children £5.50, Family (2 Adults, 3 Children) £23, Under 2s free. Book tickets here.

RSPB Sandwell Valley: Easter Egg Hunt, West Bromwich

When? Until April 14,  RSPB Sandwell wants young detectives to join their Easter Egg hunt.

Please note that the eggs are not chocolate eggs; this is not a chocolate egg hunt.

How much? £3.50 per trail sheet.

Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens: Easter Egg Hunts, Birmingham

Running till April 7, children can get involved and solve the Easter trail questions to win a reward (A Cadbury Creme Egg, Skittles, or a Chocolate Bunny). No need to book, just turn up.

Churchfields: Fun Farm & Easter Trail, Doitwich

When? From Wednesday 27 March then Tuesday April 2 to Sunday April 7, this small farm is running an Easter trail as well it’s usual activities.
How much? Adults £6, Children aged 2-15 £8.50, Children aged 1-2 £6, under 1s go free. Booking is essential.

Rodbaston Animal Zone: Easter Eggstravaganza, Stafford

 When? Until April 7. During the Easter Eggstravaganza event, Rodbaston Animal Zone is offering a meet the Easter bunny event, an egg hunt and an Easter bonnet parade.

How much? Adults £9, Concessions £6, Children aged 4-15 £6 (2 for 1 offer applies), Children aged 3 and under go free.

Essington Farm: Easter Trail, Wolverhampton

 From March 28-April 5th, the farm is hosting an Easter trail, which includes a prize at the end.

How much? Adults £2.50 and Children £5.

Bodenham Arboretum: Hunt the Golden Egg, Kidderminister

 When? Until April 7 Bodenham Arboretum is hosting an Easter trail (Hunt the Golden Egg) - follow the clues and collect a prize!

How much? Adults £8, Children (aged 3+) £5, Family Ticket £26.

Arley Arboretum: Easter Egg Hunt,Bewdley

When? Until April 7, your children can hunt for wooden eggs.

How much? For Egg Hunt & Arboretum Admission, Adults £7, Children £3.50, under 4s go free.

Tamworth Castle: Dragon Egg Hunt, Tamworth

 When? Until April 7, Ruby the Castle Dragon has hidden her eggs from the dragon hunter in the castle. Visitors are invited to help Ruby find her eggs and earn a reward for their hard work. This activity is included in general admission.

How much? Adults £9.95, Children £7.50, Family ticket (up to 5 people) £37.50. No pre-booking necessary, but you can pre-book online if you wish.

Mander Centre: Free Easter Fun Day, Wolverhampton

 When? On Saturday March 30, join in the Mother Goose's Easter egg hunt across the Mander Centre, meet the Easter Bunny and Bo Peep and take part in the free Easter basket decorating workshop.

How much? Free.

Secret Surfers Easter Trail, Bristol

When? From March 28, your children can solve the secret word that the hidden  cartoon surfers spell out during the trail and claim a prize.

The hugs foundation Easter open day, Bodmin,Cornwall


When? On March 30, the rescue and rehabilitation charity for horses, ponies and donkeys, are holding an Open Day so that everyone can see what they do and have fun. With children’s activities and the opportunity to meet the animals, it will certainly go down well with any farmyard-loving little ones.

Newquay Easter Trail, Newquay, Cornwall

When? From Mach 29 to April 14, there are 20 hidden Easter Eggs in different shops around Newquay. Simply visit the Tourist Information Centre to pick up a clue sheet, then solve the clues to locate the eggs, which are marked with a number. Those who return their completed sheet to the Tourist Information Centre will receive a reward!

Easter Fest, Leamington Spa

When? On April 1, Easter Fest offers family entertainment and fun and games to delicious treats to try.

Easter Egg Roll, Preston

When? On April 1, the traditional Easter egg roll takes place with competitions each hour. These involve rolling an easter egg down the hill in Avenham Park, but there’s also an Easter bonnet competition and visits from Plucky, the giant chicken.

 Peter Rabbit Explore & Play Easter Surprise, Blackpool

 When? Until April 14, your children can help Peter Rabbit find missing Easter eggs through interactive challenges.

When? Until April 14, you can complete the Easter bingo trail around Bramhall Hall, and win a small prize for finishing.

When? Until April 14, you can follow a trail to find all the hearts with Easter drawings hidden in the park.

Great Knaresborough Bunny Hunt

When? Until April 7, Find all the bunnies and hand in your trail sheet for a sweet treat! Head to the Facebook and Instagram pages for all announcements.

Studfold Easter Egg and Fairy Hunt, Upper Nidderdale

When? Running until 6 April, you can pick up a clue sheet and then explore and discover large willow nests, eggs, golden rabbits and the famous Studfold Spring Fairies! Booking is essential and is available through the Studfold website

Thorp Perrow Easter Fun, Bedale

When? Until 8 April (with live action 7-10 April) you need to collect clues around this Beatrix Potter themed trail for your chance to win a prize!

Hesketh Farm Easter Egg Hunt, Bolton Abbey Estate, Yorkshire Dales

Skipton Easter Events, Skipton town centre

When? On March 30, an Easter Bunny trail around the town centre and a fun family day with live science, bouncy castles and more!

Newcastle Puppetry Festival, Newcastle

When? Running from March 30 to April 7, Newcastle Puppetry Festival takes place across several venues in the city. There are lots of free drop-in and low-cost ticketed events to choose from and there's something for all ages.

Hill House Easter trail, Helensburgh

When? From March 29 to April 1, you can complete an easter trail in this marvel of a house.

Lauriston Castle, Edinburgh

When? On March 30 visit for free drop-in events all day, including an Easter egg trail, games and a quiz.

Wales

Harlech Castle, Gywnedd

When? From March 30 to April 1 you and the family can step back in time with the Ardudwy knights. With combat displays, and weaponry demonstrations, and an easter egg trail on March 31.

Easter trail at St Fagans National Museum of History, Cardiff

When?  From 29 March till April 1, pick up an Easter trail worksheet and learn as you go, earning a chocolate treat at the end.

 National Trust

The egg hunting stakes are pretty high for visitors to the 195 plus National Trust Easter trails across the UK this spring. Those seeking a chocolate reward are invited to explore mazes and meadows, kitchen gardens and orchards, as well as parkland and woodland during their hunt. Every single National Trust Easter trail is different, from nature-inspired crafts, den-building and seed planting to egg and spoon races and welly wanging. Every trail ends with a chocolate egg, or a vegan ‘Free-From’ chocolate egg, made in the UK using cocoa from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms.

Booking online in advance and taking your own food and water will also keep costs down so that you can make memories in April without having to make cutbacks in May.
