This year, Refugee Week runs from 17-23 June. The occasion is used to highlight and celebrate refugees’ unique contributions to UK culture, with a programme of cultural, sporting, arts and education events.
It’s also designed to open up a conversation about why people have to flee their native countries in search of safety abroad.
What benefits and support can refugees and asylum seekers get?
Refugees in the UK are allowed to claim benefits. Different rules are in place for asylum seekers, but you’re still entitled to some support.
