Fancy a free Christmas tree? Head to Tesco this weekend!

If you love a festive freebie, you’re in luck. This Saturday 6 December, Tesco is giving away free Christmas trees - yes, completely free!

What’s the catch?

There isn’t much of one. The only reason these trees aren’t being sold is that they’re a little ‘wonky’.

That might mean they lean slightly to one side or have branches that aren’t perfectly spaced.

They’re still perfectly good Christmas trees, just not quite up to retail standards, so Tesco is handing them out instead of throwing them away.

Where can you find them?

The free ‘wonky’ trees will be available at selected Tesco stores from 10am, and it’s first come, first served. Each household can take one tree.

Participating stores include:

  • Colney Hatch Extra
  • Borehamwood Extra
  • Hammersmith
  • Southport Extra
  • Goole Superstore
  • Glossop Superstore
  • Bristol Brislington Extra
  • Cardiff Extra
  • Dundee Riverside Extra
  • Glasgow Maryhill Extra

Tesco is also encouraging anyone who picks up a free tree to make a voluntary donation to Fareshare or the Trussell Trust, both of which help support people facing food insecurity.

Can’t get to a participating store?

If you’re not close to one of the listed locations or can’t make it this Saturday, don’t worry, you can still get yourself a bargain tree.
