Final reminder to redeem energy vouchers before end of week

UK households have so far failed to claim more than £100m of support towards their energy bills, it has been revealed.

With only days left to redeem vouchers sent out under the energy bills support scheme, people are being urged to act fast.

If you’re on a traditional prepayment meter, you need to redeem your vouchers by 30 June - that's this Friday.

Why have I been sent energy vouchers?

The energy bills support scheme was introduced to help households in England, Scotland and Wales cover the cost of their gas and electricity last winter. They received £400 split into monthly payments of £66 or £67.

Under an equivalent scheme in Northern Ireland, households got £600.

If you pay your energy bills by Direct Debit, the discount was automatically sent.

But if you’re on a traditional prepayment meter, you’ll have been sent vouchers by text, email or post.

These vouchers can be redeemed at your usual top-up point.

What to do if you have unclaimed vouchers

If you have unclaimed vouchers, take them to a PayPoint shop or Post Office so they can be added to your energy top-up card or key. Remember to take proof of ID and address.

My voucher has expired – what should I do?

If any of your vouchers have expired, get in touch with your supplier immediately. They should be able to send you a replacement voucher. This will need to be done by text or email so you have time to redeem the voucher before this Friday’s deadline.
