Money Wellness offers warm space for second year running

For the second year in a row, we're offering a warm space this winter. If you're struggling to heat your home, you're more than welcome to join us.

Our offices in Trafford Park are open to anyone who’s feeling the cold and needs a safe place to warm up.

Throughout December, our café will be open every Tuesday and Thursday from 9am to 6pm, offering a warm space completely free of charge to local residents.

We did the same last year when energy bills soared and left many people unable to afford heating. With energy prices having gone up again recently, many households continue to struggle.

Stacey Cannon, head of colleague engagement and development at Money Wellness, said:

“We’re pleased to be part of this important initiative once more. With energy bills climbing again, it's no surprise so many people are struggling to keep their homes warm.

“Many of our customers are already falling behind on their energy bills, and winter hasn’t even got going yet. It’s important that people know there are places like our offices where they can escape the cold.”

What are warm banks?

Our warm space is part of the Warm Welcome Campaign, which began in 2022 when the cost of living crisis hit people hard. Warm banks like ours, offer a safe, heated space for anyone who needs it.

You can come in, warm up, or even just enjoy a chat with others. At some venues, you can charge your phone, get online, enjoy free food and drinks, and get support and advice if you need it.

Warm banks are completely free and open to everyone.

Since their launch, warm banks have helped an average of 120,000 people each week across the UK.

Today, more than 4,000 Warm Welcome Spaces are spread out across the country, held by local councils, community groups, libraries, charities, and businesses. Last year, 93% of libraries in the UK offered a warm space.

Why are warm banks needed?

Every year, around 10,000 people in the UK die from health issues made worse by living in cold homes. With the government cutting winter fuel payments - reducing the number of pensioners receiving support from 11 million to just 1.5 million - the risk to vulnerable people is growing. This winter, it's estimated that 6 million people will face fuel poverty and won’t be able to afford to heat their homes.

If you or someone you know is feeling the cold, our doors are open, and we’re here to help keep you warm this winter.
