Money Wellness raises money for Friends of Frankie

Colleagues at Money Wellness, the wellbeing platform specialising in free debt advice, have raised money for nominated charity, Friends of Frankie.

Friends of Frankie is a charity set up in memory of Frankie Grogan, a healthy and happy three-year-old boy from Timperley who was put to bed one night and never woke up because of an extraordinarily rare brain condition called hippocampal malformation – a condition associated with sudden death.

The charity, formed by Frankie’s parents, has already raised £10,000 for the Alder Hey Bereavement Centre, which supported them following Frankie’s death. It’s currently aiming to raise £20,000 to donate to Sudden Unexplained Death in Children (SUDC UK) - a charity that aims to make sudden death in children predicable and preventable by raising awareness and funding crucial research.

The money collected by Money Wellness will be used as part of this fundraising. It was raised through a mixture of payroll giving and a raffle.

Mercedes Dawson, Engagement and Development Manager at Money Wellness, said: “We’re especially pleased to be able to support Friends of Frankie as one of our employees, Jacqui Cummings, is close the family, which makes it all the more personal for us.

“It’s a charity doing wonderful things to help other families who tragically lose a child and ensuring Frankie’s memory lives on.

“We’re delighted that so many of our team supported Friends of Frankie and hope to organise lots more fundraising activities soon.”

Each year Money Wellness employees have the opportunity to nominate and vote on which charity to support for the year.
