Posting a letter is about to get more expensive…again
First and second class stamps are set to go up in price next month.

From 7 April, a first class stamp will cost £1.80 - an increase of 10p.
Meanwhile, a second class stamp will go up by 4p to 91p.
Why are stamp prices going up?
Royal Mail says it’s putting up prices because the cost of delivering mail is increasing.
In fact, it says that during the last 20 years, the number of letters being sent has fallen by 70%, yet the number of addresses it delivers to has gone up by 4m.
“We always consider price changes very carefully, balancing affordability with the rising cost of delivering mail,” said Richard Travers, managing director of letters at Royal Mail.
Higher prices must come with higher standards, says Citizens Advice
The increase has been condemned by Citizens Advice, as it means people will be paying more for a “failing service”.
Anna Pardoe, head of policy at the charity, said it’s been more than five years since Royal Mail met its delivery targets.
As a result, she believes any increases should be linked to Royal Mail’s “performance on the doorstep”.
“People still face a gamble, with many uncertain if their important documents or letters like medical appointments will arrive on time,” Ms Pardoe commented.
“Things only risk getting worse when cuts to delivery days and reduced performance targets come into full effect.”
