Save money on takeaways with our budget tortilla pizzas
Even the fussiest eaters love a pizza, but they’re not necessarily the cheapest option.

But with just a pack of tortilla wraps, you can make your very own pizzas on a budget.
Not only do they cost much less than a pizza from the supermarket or a takeaway, they’re quick to make and a great way to use up ingredients and leftovers.
What you’ll need
- one tortilla wrap
- one or two tablespoons of tomato sauce or passata
- a handful of grated cheese
How to make it
1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan).
2. Place the tortilla wrap on a baking tray.
3. Spread the tomato sauce across the wrap, leaving a small gap around the edge.
4. Sprinkle over the grated cheese.
5. Bake until the cheese has melted and the edges are crisp – usually about five to 10 minutes
6. Cut into slices and serve straight away.
Add your favourite toppings
You can also add just about any toppings you like to a pizza, such as:
- herbs
- tomatoes
- chopped peppers
- leftover ham, chicken or bacon
- sweetcorn
- sliced mushrooms
- a few olives
And you don’t have to buy fresh ingredients to make your wrap a bit more interesting.
See what’s in the fridge or what might be about to be thrown in the bin.
Using things up like this helps your shopping go further and stops perfectly good food going to waste.
And it means it’s different each time, so you never end up stuck in the rut of having the same meal every week.
Customise for each person
Tortilla pizzas can easily be tweaked for everyone in the house.
So if one person’s veggie, another doesn’t like spice and only one person likes olives, it’s not a problem.
Just prepare the same tomato base and give everyone what they want, without having to make them a completely different meal.
And there you go - a cheap, cheerful and tasty option that’s ideal for a quick lunch, and great for tea when served up with homemade chips and salad.
