Savvy shoppers save £1.3 billion on supermarket deals
Supermarket deals helped shoppers save a massive £1.3 billion in the past month, according to figures from data analysis company, Kantar.
The cut-price items snapped up by savvy savers made up 29.3% of all supermarket sales – the highest level outside of Christmas since June 2021.
And led to savings of almost £46 per household.
The report also looked at Easter spending and found chocolate egg sales up 3% on last year, with 37% of shoppers buying at least one in the seven days leading up to 31 March.
Spending on Easter treats topped £100 million for the first time ever, reflecting a growing trend in Brits snacking more.
Over the past decade, there's been an increase in the sale of almost all types of nibbles. With Brits munching on chocolate 93 million more times in the year to June 2023 than they did in the twelve months to June 2013.
Fruit has also bumped up the list of the country’s snack choices, with 314 million more pieces of fruit eaten between meals in 2023 and 2013.
With snacking becoming more popular, we thought we’d look at the country’s favourite side-munches. Are yours on the list?
