Spending review 2025: What does it mean for you?
Chancellor Rachel Reeves has delivered her spending review, which outlines some of the government’s priorities for the next few years.

Extra investment in affordable housing
£39bn is to be put towards a new Affordable Homes Programme.
The government is calling this the biggest boost to investment in social and affordable housing in a generation.
£3 bus fare extended
The £3 national bus fare cap will be extended by over a year to March 2027.
Warm Homes Plan being expanded
The government has committed an extra £13.2bn to the Warm Homes Plan, which will help more households get energy-efficient upgrades.
Ministers believe this will help to cut people’s energy bills by up to £600.
Investment in school-based nurseries
Almost £370 million will be invested in school-based nurseries over the next four years.
Capping the cost of school uniforms
The chancellor has confirmed that number of branded school uniform items will be capped from September 2026.
According to the Department for Education, the move could save around four million pupils around £50 a year.
£1.2bn for training and upskilling young people
Extra money will go towards helping more than a million young people into training and apprenticeships.
The chancellor says this will help them realise “their potential, their drive and their ambition”.
