But each retailer offers different prices, so if you want to keep costs down, where should you go?

Well, we’ve looked at the main high street stores to see which ones offer the lowest prices.

Co-op

If you’re a member, you can get a meal deal for just £3.50, while non-members pay £4.

Morrisons

A standard meal deal costs £4, but with a membership, you can pay just £3.50

Premium options are available for £5.50 with membership.

Sainsbury’s

A standard meal deal costs £3.95, so it’s one of the cheapest options if you don’t have a loyalty card.

Meanwhile, premium deals are available at £5.

Tesco

If you have a Tesco Clubcard, a meal deal will cost £3.85.

Without one, it costs £4.25.

Boots

A standard meal deal costs £3.99, but if you’re in London or at an airport, expect to pay £4.99.

Loyalty cards can make a big difference

Of course, prices are only one factor to consider when you’re buying your lunch.

Some shops will have a bigger selection of products than others - and that could sway your decision.

But if you want to be sure you’re getting the best deal, it might be a good idea to sign up for different store loyalty programs.

According to the Competition and Markets Authority, 97% of shoppers are a member of at least one supermarket loyalty scheme.

And on average, shoppers are members of three supermarket loyalty schemes.

So even if you don’t shop there every day, those small savings could quickly add up.
