If you’re near Wigan and looking for affordable school uniform, you can pick up everything you need for just £2 per item at the Rebuild With Hope store this week.

The charity’s popular school uniform sale is designed to support families facing rising living costs, helping you save money while still making sure your child has the essentials they need for school.
The sale first launched last year, with pop-up events held across Greater Manchester. All items are donated and include everyday uniform basics such as:
- polo shirts
- pinafores
- trousers
- skirts
- other school essentials
When and where is the £2 school uniform sale?
The sale opens on Friday at the Wigan Rebuild With Hope store from 10am to 4pm, and will run again on Saturday during the same hours.
After that, you can continue to shop the sale throughout the summer:
- Thursdays and Fridays: 10.30am to 2.30pm
- Saturdays: 10am to 4pm
You’ll find the store next to the Rebuild With Hope Community Hub inside the Grand Arcade Shopping Centre, Wigan.
What is Rebuild With Hope?
Rebuild With Hope is a charity focused on supporting people who face barriers to employment and rebuilding their lives.
Since it was founded, the charity has supported almost 6,200 community sales, helping people access affordable essentials. The school uniform initiative was inspired by its work with disadvantaged communities, where the charity saw that many families were struggling to afford everyday basics.
Could you get extra help from your council?
Before paying for school uniform, it’s worth checking whether your local council offers financial support.
Some councils provide up to £200 in non-repayable grants to help with school costs. You may qualify if your child is eligible for free school meals and you receive certain benefits.
To check whether you’re eligible, contact your local council.
Don’t forget to ask your child’s school about help
Schools must make sure uniform costs are affordable and that clothing requirements do not prevent children from attending.
Many schools run second-hand uniform schemes, so check your child’s school website or ask the school office if they offer one.
If you’re struggling to afford uniform, PE kit or shoes, speak directly to your child’s headteacher. Some schools may be able to offer support.
Small steps can make a big difference
Buying school uniform is a cost many families can’t avoid, but you don’t always have to pay full price.
By shopping second-hand, checking for council support and asking your child’s school what help is available, you can reduce the cost while still making sure your child starts school feeling comfortable and confident.
