Having a baby when money's tight? You could get £100 a week from Aldi, plus tips to help you cope
Having a baby is an exciting time, but if you’re on a tight budget, it can also come with real money worries.

The costs can add up quickly. Nappies alone can cost around £40 a month, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed about how you’ll manage.
That’s why Aldi has re-launched a popular scheme to help ease the pressure for new parents.
Aldi is giving away £100 a week to new parents
Recognising how expensive those early months can be, Aldi is giving away £100 vouchers every week throughout 2026 to support new parents and carers.
For the second year running, the supermarket is launching its Mamia New Parent Fund, which will give away thousands of pounds’ worth of vouchers to families who shop at Aldi.
The fund is designed to help you cover the extra costs that come with welcoming a new baby.
Aldi says nearly one in five new parents (17%) say regular nappy purchases are one of the biggest unexpected expenses. Its own data also shows that if you buy Mamia nappies, Aldi’s own-brand range, you could save up to £380 over your baby’s first year compared with leading branded alternatives.
The Mamia range includes nappies, wipes, baby food and toiletries, essentials you’re likely to be buying regularly anyway.
How to apply
If you want to apply for the Mamia New Parent Fund, you just need to email [email protected] with a receipt showing your latest Mamia purchase.
Each week throughout 2026, one family will be chosen to receive a £100 voucher, which you can spend in any UK Aldi store. The competition is already open and will run until 27 January 2027.
Preparing for a baby when money is tight
Even with offers like this, preparing for a baby on a low income can feel daunting. The good news is that with a bit of planning, you can get ready for your baby without falling into debt or adding unnecessary stress.
Quick tips to help you cope
- Check what money you’re entitled to - you could get help like maternity allowance, healthy start payments, child benefit, and support with childcare. These can seriously boost your income, so it’s worth checking everything you qualify for.
- Spread the cost - you don’t need to buy everything at once. Start with the basics and set aside small amounts each week to avoid panic buying or using credit.
- Use second-hand and free items - ask friends and family, check local Facebook groups, and use baby banks. Babies grow fast and there’s loads of barely used gear out there.
- Keep baby shopping cheap - own-brand nappies and wipes like Aldi's Mamia, are usually cheaper than big brands. Reusable nappies, baby clubs and supermarket baby events can help you save even more.
- Look for local help - councils, charities, and family hubs can help with essentials and extra support. Ask your midwife or health visitor what’s available near you.
