Each supermarket will be generously marking down their meat, veg and other festive favourites throughout the day.

So if you’re on the hunt for last-minute bargains, it’s worth finding out what time the yellow stickers will start appearing.

Thankfully, VoucherCodes.co.uk has done the hard work so you don’t have to.

Lidl

Two rounds of reductions usually happen at 8am and 6pm.

Aldi

Expect one round in the morning at around 8am, with a second markdown later in the evening before closing.

Sainsbury’s

Yellow stickers typically appear at around 2pm, followed by another round at 6pm.

Morrisons

Look out for reductions as soon as the store opens, with a second wave in the evening.

Asda

They have three rounds of markdowns in the morning, at midday and at around 7pm.

Tesco

Discounts are usually applied in three waves at 10am, 2pm and 7pm.

Marks & Spencer

Reductions often start from around 3pm, with some of the biggest bargains appearing about 30 minutes before closing time.

Is yellow sticker shopping worth it?

Usually, we’d urge people to go to the supermarket with a list of what they plan to buy.

But if you’re in the market for yellow sticker reductions, you have to be flexible.

So it’s worth turning up with a list of ideas of what kind of items you’re after, rather than specific products.

And make sure you only buy what you’ll actually use or be able to freeze.

Otherwise, you’re simply wasting perfectly good food and money.

Finally, remember that the supermarkets are likely to be busy today and there might be a bit of a scrum around the reduced aisle.

So be patient, polite and respectful to staff and fellow shoppers as you try to bag your festive bargains.

Happy Christmas!
