Where to bag Christmas last-minute supermarket bargains
It’s Christmas Eve and if you’re feeling unprepared, you’re not alone. You might not have Christmas completely ‘sewn up’, but don’t panic, you’ve still got time.

Every year, millions of us dash to the shops at the very last minute for those final Christmas essentials. And according to research by O2 Motion, it’s usually you men who leave it until the eleventh hour. Yep, come Christmas Eve, it’s the men ones racing round the aisles, panic-buying gifts, chocolate and sprouts.
But here’s the good news. If you’ve left anything until the last minute, you could actually save money. Supermarkets are slashing prices, and bargains are everywhere if you know where to look.
Slashing the cost of selection boxes
If you still need stocking fillers, you’re in luck. Selection boxes are a Christmas classic, and right now, you can grab them for a fraction of the price.
- At Iceland, you’ll find 75% off the Maltesers and Friends large Christmas selection box.
- If you’ve got a Ferrero Rocher fan in your house, you can pick up a 90g Ferrero Rocher milk chocolate bar for just £2 at Iceland.
Perfect if you forgot the stockings or need a quick extra gift.
Quality Street and Celebrations price cuts
Let’s be honest, Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without you dipping into a tub of Quality Street or Celebrations every five minutes.
The good news is that you don’t have to pay full price.
- the Food Warehouse has cut the price of the big tubs from £5 down to £3.95
- the offer runs until the start of 2026
And if you shop elsewhere, you’re still covered:
- Lidl and Aldi are selling tubs for £3.95
- Tesco is offering the same deal if you’ve got a Clubcard
Free carrots at Morrisons
If you haven’t bought the carrots yet, don’t worry, you can get them for free.
Until Christmas Eve, Morrisons is giving away over 27 tonnes of carrots so you can ‘feed Rudolph’ and his friends.
They’re part of the supermarket’s ‘naturally wonky’ range, so don’t be surprised if your carrots look a little unusual, they might be bendy, chunky or oddly shaped, but they’ll still do the job.
Christmas dinner veg for just 5p!
If you still need veg, you could pay just pennies.
What you can get at Aldi for 5p:
- White potatoes: 5p (2kg)
- Carrots: 5p (1kg)
- Parnsips: 5p (100g)
- Red and white cabbages: 5p each
- Brussels sprouts: 5p (500g)
- Swede: 5p each
And at Lidl, veg is just 8p:
- Sprouts: 8p (500g)
- Carrots: 8p (1kg)
- Parsnips: 8p (500g)
- Potatoes: 8p (2kg)
- Swede: 8p each
- Red and white cabbages (8p each)
Lidl is also offering 300g of Deluxe Echalion Shallots for just 8p.
Don’t forget Asda’s fuel deal
If you’re driving around picking things up, you could save at the pump too.
Asda is offering 3p off a litre of petrol throughout December.
Here’s how it works:
- spend £15 or more in an Asda Express store
- you’ll get 3p off a litre of fuel
- the offer runs until 31 December
- it’s available at 488 Asda Express stores
So if you’re popping out for last-minute bits, you might as well save on fuel while you’re at it.
