If you’re over state pension age and need help due to a disability or health condition, you may be able to claim attendance allowance. It’s designed to go towards care costs.
Find out how much attendance allowance you’ll get.
Attendance allowance rates
There are two different rates of attendance allowance:
- Lower rate: £72.65 a week
- Higher rate: £108.55 a week
Which rate you get depends on how much and when you need help.
Lower rate
You’ll get the lower rate if you need help or supervision at any time during the day or night.
This includes help getting dressed, preparing meals or managing medications.
Higher rate
You’ll get the higher rate if you need help or supervision during the day and at night.
If you need constant support or supervision, this is the rate you’ll get.
You’ll also get the higher amount if you’re terminally ill.
