Asda’s ‘Winter Warmer’ £1 meal deal returns
Asda is bringing back its popular Winter Warmer deal, offering a hot meal for just £1 to anyone aged 60 or over.

From 1 November until the end of February, pensioners can visit any of Asda’s 212 cafés across the UK to enjoy:
- a bowl of tomato or chicken soup with bread
- unlimited tea or coffee
The deal was first launched in 2022 to help older customers during the cost of living crisis. It has now returned for a fourth year in a row. In 2024 alone, over half a million £1 meals were served.
Beyond providing a warm meal, Asda hopes the offer will help tackle loneliness among older people. The supermarket is encouraging local over-60s groups and individuals to visit their nearest café to chat and connect with others.
According to Asda’s Christmas Community Tracker, one in 10 over-60s said they were unsure if they would speak to anyone between 15 December and 1 January and many said supermarkets were their only place for human interaction.
Jordan Cummings, buying manager for cafes and concessions at Asda, said: “We know winter is set to be incredibly hard for thousands of pensioners as they continue to worry about how to keep themselves warm in the face of rising living costs and on a fixed income.
“By bringing Winter Warmers back this November, we hope it will continue to be just as impactful across the winter months for those who need it most, as well as offering a relaxed social environment to come and chat to others.”
